In this guide

Our FREE impact guide covers every step of the disciplinary process so you can be sure you'll get it right.

You’ve decided that the conduct or performance of one of your employees is unacceptable and that less formal management options are not appropriate.

In this case, you have the option of entering into a disciplinary process. This does not necessarily mean that a warning will be issued; consultation with the employee is required first.

You must not predetermine the outcome – process is important. Your decisions are not
final until the employee has had the chance to put forward their side of the story and you have considered this fully and factored their response into your final decision.

The guide covers:

  • Engaging in the correct process.
  • Complete process map.
  • Individual employee meetings.
  • Response meetings.
  • Consideration periods.
  • Performance improvement plans.
  • Written warnings.
